Since Miami, Florida is located in one of the warmest areas of the United States, activities can be enjoyed outside all year long. If you don't like to be outdoors all of the time and want to take in a little culture, there is ample opportunity within the city limits.

To begin your Miami sightseeing trip indoors, the Children's Museum is a great place to start. There are exhibits which require hands on cooperation, there are exhibits that explore the natural habitat and the history of the Miami area and there are things to see that talk about modern Miami influences. A miniature mock TV studio is also on site where kids can pretend to be behind the cameras or in front of it themselves.

The Zoo Miami is increasing its popularity as it increases the number of species that can live within its area. Since Miami has a climate that is tropical, there are animals from other tropical locations that can live there very easily as opposed to cities which have to recreate the climate. The animals are not caged, but have exhibits that are open in what looks like their natural habitats.

The Miami Seaquarium is a place where any aged person will love to visit. The Seaquarium is located on a causeway between Miami and the Keys, allowing the animals and sea life to be in their natural habitat. See dolphins swim or watch for native fish species swimming around. There are a lot of shows to watch or species to investigate at the facility.

When you want to explore outdoors, the Everglades National Park has 1.5 million acres of land in southern Florida to explore. The park is home to 14 rare and endangered species which you might catch a glimpse of. These animals include the Florida Panther, the American Crocodile and the West Indian Manatee. A swamp boat tour or a walk on one of the hundreds of miles of trails will bring you up close and personal to Florida's wildlife.

If you have a love for birds, the Parrot Jungle is a destination to add to your list. This place hosts tropical birds of every shape, size and color. See birds in their natural habitat and learn about their lifestyle, if they are endangered and what can be done to protect them. A place to explore monkeys in depth is called the Monkey Jungle. This place is the exact opposite of the zoo. The humans walk under cages and through tunnels while monkeys from all over the world have the run of the place. See monkeys from all over the world and learn about endangered species, prevention of destruction of habitat and ways to improve their living conditions.

To enjoy more of the outdoors in Miami, there are miles of sandy beaches and piers to enjoy. Take your umbrella and a beach bag and take up some sun and waves on one of the largest beaches in the United States. There are lots of boating, fishing, parasailing and water skiing opportunities as well. When you are away from the water, there is hiking and biking to do nearby in parks and city green zones.

When the outdoors and physical activity isn't your thing, there are hundreds of boutiques, retail establishments and fine dining facilities to enjoy along South Beach. This is considered a ritzy and affluent area of the city with designer named stores along the strip. Miami is home to many celebrities and a vacation destination for many other stars during the winter months if they don't own a home nearby.
